Dear Young Adults, I’m watching you… but only in the very best way. Please don’t be freaked out if you see me watching you out of the corner of my eye. I promise I’m not being creepy. I’m just genuinely amazed by you. Some of you are making some serious moves… confident and courageous, you are taking it on.
Some of you are starting new businesses.
Some are focused on maintaining only the necessary, so that all resources can be poured into investments.
Some are digging deeper into that education, working to get that first or second degree.
Others are taking the leap: selling all, packing up and moving to another country. For awhile… or maybe forever. Who knows?!
And some of you seem to be so sure of what you want, so early in the game.
You’re crushing it. And it is thrilling.
Because now is the time, my young friends. You might be the type who is focused on the long term gains, and that is wonderful and necessary. For those of you who are wrestling with some shorter-term decision making, please allow me to submit this for your consideration.
3 things young adults should know
- You are relatively unencumbered. Change and adventure are absolutely possible at any age, but it is less of a logistical exercise when you’re nimble.
- You are used to not having all of the things. The things can wait. And if you wait awhile, you may come to realize that you need far less than society would have us believe.
- Your body can happily and easily function and get rest in less than optimal situations. I’m here to tell you this: when you reach a certain age, a good mattress becomes requisite, most fun places seem noisy, and dental care becomes more of a priority.
So, whatever “it” is for you, just do it, my darlings. Keep your footprint light, your options open, and your heart and mind ready to accept new opportunities and challenges.
Thank you for shining your rays of vitality and possibility. You help us remember on the days that we forget.
